Scope screws keep loosening! Is Loctite the answer?

Loctite is a company
Threadlock is the product
ALL threadlocking compounds they produce have a breakway torque.

if they dont they are not a threadlocking compound they are a probably permanent adhesive.
If people wanted to permanently hold a nut onto a bolt they would weld it on.

IMO you should not need to use any of their products on scope mount screws.
get some decent screws and or mounts.
I only have Leupold mounts so I cant comment on Optilock, that said it is possible to torque up leupold mounts to the point that when undoing they audibly "crack".
that is the sign of a good bolt material and machining tolerances. it is breakaway rather than causing deformation of mating surface and/or threads.

bewsher much more than just screws or bolts as you put it are retained using Loctite products.

Yes, I know.
thats kind of what I alluded to by the fact that they produce a huge range of products not just thread lock.

still has no place on a rifle IMO

just be a bit ginger as to how much you give them if you rip the heads of you have a job on your hands to drill out without damage to the threaded holes on the action.

There isn't any threaded holes on any of the Sakos that I have, all have dovetails. Glyn

Hmmm well certain types of Loctite are useful for sealing solvents and moisture out of threads that will not be undone for extended periods. Some manufacturers uses it to seal barrel threads. It's also used to seal trigger adjusting screws so they do not move and tamperign by the customer is more obvious.;) so it does have it's uses. I believe that Remington glued the barrels in on their budget monstrosities of the 710 not sure if they did so on the 770.

loctite, check zero and you cant go wrong just be extra carefull that your turn screw device is exactly the right size and is located when it cmes to removal to ensure you dont end up rounding the heads.
