Scopes

If I was spending that sort of money on the scope I would go over to Uttings and have a look through the scopes and compare and make my own mind up, having looked through the Zeiss I would happily recommend one.

Hope this helps

I prefer the leupold, and have a couple of vx 111s just find the eye relief suits me better.

Zeiss everytime but leupold are not far behind having worked with both the back up service from Swiss is better as well

Never tried the Zeiss but I have the exact same Leupold and rate it highly.

Edit, just noticed the zeiss in not illuminated... I'd get the leupold...

This morning I took a look at both of them , the leupold is lighter and shorter , and feels better built than the zeiss duralyt . The zeiss glass is great , but at dawn this morning the leupold with the firedot reticle was really outstanding . Neither are as good as my Schmidt 8x56 for light gathering . I couldn't tell the difference between the two as far as clarity went . What got me with the zeiss were little things , there are no grooves in the the mag adjustment , the turret caps where plastic and felt cheap and the finish was not as hard .
Anyway I walked away with the leupold , so well see how it goes .
thanks for all your input guys , I know I haven't gone with the masses on this one but to me the leupold just felt better built and I know I'd be kicking myself on the evening I miss that sika stag due to the lack of an iluminated reticle ! Ill write a review when I've used it a bit .

It always comes down to personal choice in the end Acm,
I dont think you will regret getting the leupold and I can attest to the build quality after dropping my rifle down a flight of stone stairs with scope attached got a few marks on it but didnt loose zero.
Best of luck with it.

dont forget with the Loopy you get lifetime warranty with them. I dont personanlly like Zeiss glass and would have chosen The leupold over it also

I have a leupold mk4 which I squires on here from another forum member! This is an ideal scope on my long range rifle and I also have the duralyt on my stalking rifle I love the zeiss it's not fussy point and shoot and I love the reticle!! I couldn't pick between mine as they are both fir very different things! The leupold is £1400 the zeiss around £600 it's whatever suits your needs best really! I would reccomend the zeiss to anyone looking for a un-fussy scope! I have also owned the illuminated reticle duralyt but I dod not like the reticle 60 I much prefer the non illuminated reticle 6 just my opinion anyhow

The old Zeiss and the current Zeiss Classic range are top quality scopes and beautifully built. The Duralyt is an entry level range - nothing wrong with their optics but definately are not a beautifully made scope. For the same sort of money Leupold / Meopta are probably a better bet. Or go fixed power 6x42 or 8x56.

But it is a personal thing and all our eyes are different.
