Scottish bruiser 2013

If it went medal or not it would of made no difference to me,The way Bill has mounted the beast in my eyes is purely magical,a stunning piece of work which would give any stalker many years of pleasure.

That is a cracking head, scored for a medal or not! each to their own I suppose.
My friend is exactly the same, he has a good few laying around in the bothy that would definetly make medal heads for sure but it just doesn't interest him to be honest.

Correct and one of the reasons why BASC measurements are not accepted by the CIC .
In my opinion any outstanding specimen should be measured and recorded for that countries records.

HWH.
why should he have it recorded? no law says he should record it .
end of day does it really matter who measures it, if the stalker is happy with it then thats is his choice and as for putting another cape on it that is fine better putting something on it that brings out its beauty rather then a scabby cape half moulted.
as for the taxidermy its self its first class bill.

Many thanks for all your kind comments guys - it is really appreciated. I was a bit perturbed by stag1933 abrasive comments - but you are all right of course. It is up to each and every hunter how or what they do with their trophy. There is no law dictating ( at least yet!) that all antlers must be assessed. The chap who shot it was over the moon with his trophy after shooting nothing but rubbish over the years, and simply wanted to preserve what he considered his best ever buck. Medals or measurement just did not even come into it. ATB Bill.

The idea that a piece of paper and a little medal is the way to show respect to your quarry is warped to say the least.:cuckoo:

I have a number of Roe heads in my collection that could easily get a decent medal but for me it is all about the deer, the stalk and my experiences.

Bill, fantastic work, and I hope to be able to send something your way sometime.

Regards

BP

Hi, PIP - many thanks for your response. Just to clarify things, this buck was shot in Forres on the 3rd of April. Dreadful coat, and the chap has no interest in medals, he just wanted to preserve what he considered a fabulous animal. He paid premium rate for fast turnaround and a replacement cape. Not officially scored as you say, but I have mounted and assessed many such heads for customers over the years and generally not far out. It was forced dried, and I have allowed a generous amount for possible errors. Antlers have not been coloured at all, we quite often get colour on them quite early up here. You can have antlers assessed by BASC right away, without the 90 days wait by others. Bill.
Thanks for the clarification Bill. That was an unbelievably quick turnaround! I take my hat off to you and your fine work.

Bill that's a grand trophy and a cracking mount a fantastic trophy to grace any ones wall no matter who's skin he's wearing.

The top eyelid is far too low! Makes it look very sad and unrealistic!
MS:cry:

Depends what emotion/expression you want to achieve in the mount Monkey Spanker - you can have alert, startled, relaxed or drowsy - even sleeping. It all has to fit in with the pose and in relation to ear position too. Alert & startled pose attached M.S and corresponding eye/ear setting. Cheers, Bill.

That's much better!
Don't like to see sad looking ones - makes it look like a reflection of a sad ending!
Nice work as always!

Didn't realise you had an interest in trophies Mick. I thought your missus banned you from having them in the house.
