SD member feedback

Like many others I have bought quite a few items from members and trade members. I have bought a vehicle, telescope sight, rangefinder, weighing scales, reloading die, knives etc. etc. I have sold one item too. I have enjoyed the very best of transactions without a single issue. SD Classifieds is not broke, so don't fix it.

+1

No, no, no, no, NO! This is a terrible argument that so many people seem to swallow too easily. Who decides what it is that you should have to hide? Someone who just dislikes someone else for whatever reason could leave them bad feedback and land them in trouble just because they don't like the cut of their jib. It's essentially the same thing as the proposal some time back that ex-partners should be asked when investigating FAC applicants. The coppers could easily say that you'd only object if you had something to hide. But what you have to hide may just be personal acrimony with no bearing on the matter at hand.

I really wish that this argument would lay down and die. Sorry if I seem to overreact a bit but I've seen this used so much in other contexts to nefarious ends that it really raises my hackles...

Call me old fashioned, but I'm sensing some resistance... :-D

Agree with PM and others that have pushed back on this idea. It works, and that's all I need. I've only bought a few bits on here, both new and previously loved, from both Trade and private sellers, and have had no issues. Ok, that might change, and I'm quite happy to have that out with them via PM or the phone.

There are so many instances on here (and probably every other forum globally) of folks taking comments out of context and then it all gets very, very sh*tty in a heartbeat. It might be that negative feedback starts being a way of getting little revenge, and that would taint all of us.

Just my opinion

I would like all sales to be open for all to see, where first to say yes please followed by pm gets the item.
No selling to chums via pm when an unknown member has already openly replied.
Also no requesting PayPal as gift. This is because I purchased a POS from a member as gift with no claim facility available. Said person was selling for freind and did'nt know the item was no good.
Unfortunately on posting back for the refund Royal Fail stole it. So pay the extra for PayPal reclaim facility.

Bryan.

I agree with CSL, but have another idea instead:

Maybe we should get a special thread on here:
Throwing the s... and p... on someone, beaten by bad words, or so, or something like that....

Its just there are a few guys on here, as everywhere on earth, who seem to like to get very offensive, personally aggressive and rude.
That would be the thread where everybody joining would expect "nothing good"....

All that is available already in the deer dog part of the site.....

Agree wholeheartedly with iainfarthing but I do think things would be better as someone else has stated about dealing out in the open not via pm, finer details sorted by pm fine initial deal on open forum just to show who the messers are it really gets my goat when you run round arrange postage rfd transfers etc for someone who's pursued you for a deal then fail to acknowledge any communications when you tell em it's all in place and ready to go ahead.

i think the best thing is that if someone buys something and is happy with it follow up with a thank you post.
Ive had two posts
If it goes wrong or not as advertised a follow up post saying so. Ive had two posts where it didn't go as planned, one to Northern Ireland where I posted some 30-06 cases and the recipient said he didn't receive them so didn't pay but I got feed back from a work mate that received them on his behalf as he gave a works address.
Another bought a scope from me and used it for a weekend then sent it back saying the reticule was not fixed. I paid for the return postage just in case but a friend mounted it on my .222 and used it on a range using PPU 50gn at 100 yards and it was perfect.
Sold some primers recently F2F and as far as I could tell the recipients were pleased with the price so all went well.

I've never had a problem buying or selling on here.
My nephew just bought a vehicle off the site, and is is chuffed to bits with it. Can't get much better than a seller describing a second-hand vehicle perfectly.
