Second hand 17HMR?

It’s a shame the ammo qc has been so bad taken a lot away from a great little calibre I thought when they launched the 17 wsm that would be the refined version but that a complete failure
The wsm in my opinion should of been anything but 17. A 20 or even a 25!

QC has improved for 17 HMR and they seem to of changed powder type, visually. Probably to prevent liability by ensuring ignition compared to earlier fail to fires causing blockages.
Don't be put off, it's the most versatile rimfire round going.

The 17 hmr is sedate with very little powder burnt - compared to CF . I shouldn't worry unless its a bashed up rustycrusty old dog of a gun or something a numbscull " improved " on the kitchen table
Not a big HMR fan personsally mine shot good but the 22 or 17 hornet is a far more useful tool , its very cheap and easy to handload

I did consider that, but the only S/H ones I've seen are basically double the money that I was planning to spend on this!
This would be my option and within budget.
Oh and he's an absolute pleasure to do business with too.

Might not be right handed, but I know many lefties that shoot a right handed rifle

As said, .17hmr is not the kind of rifle that will suffer throat erosion, so possibly pitting is the only factor to consider. I paid peanuts for a S/H annie 1517 which is superb, only let down by wee 5 round mags..I bought 2 mags for quick changes in the field. Anschutz pop up on here quite often hugely cheaper than new price, I’d wager most have only had a few boxes run through them.

I think it’s a useful wee calibre, certainly capable of 150yd vermin, and foxes 75-80yd. I couldn’t be without one in the cabinet. A CZ is fit for purpose but an annie or weirauch are just a bit nicer.
