Based in Killiechonate and reporting to the Head Stalker, the Stalker will provide assistance as directed in deer management, estate maintenance and environmental management.

JAHAMA Highland Estates is an innovative, multi-enterprise rural business covering 114,000 acres of the Scottish Highlands. We are part of the GFG Alliance, a global industrial conglomerate. We operate in an iconic landscape popular with visitors from around the world and for local recreation. We support responsible access, and positive visitor engagement is an important task for all our staff. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a public-facing environment and acting as an ambassador for the Estate.
We are currently recruiting for a permanent Stalker to join our well-established sporting team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, reporting to a Head Stalker and being a proficient user of Argocats and quadbikes. Flexibility, dedication and a modern approach to sporting management will be key attributes.
• Mechanical extraction of deer in challenging terrain.
• Supporting the head stalker to achieve deer cull targets.
• Maintaining vehicles.
• Working alongside the wider team in carrying out maintenance tasks, such fencing, bridges, drainage systems and tracks.
• Participating in environmental work such as habitat monitoring and habitat enhancement.
• Support the Head Stalker with the hospitality of guests.
Skills, Experience & Knowledge
Previous experience of Highland deer management, ideally in an area with significant public access.
• At least two years’ experience in the use of Argocat’s and quadbikes, possessing both sit-in and sit-astride tickets.
• A good level of fitness and aptitude for working in extremely steep terrain in challenging weather conditions.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Flexible team player keen to seek positive solutions; adaptable, committed and enjoys a challenge.
• Ability to act with discretion at all times and fulfil the role of an Estate ambassador.

• Shotgun and firearms certification
• ATV tickets
• DMQ Level 1
Desirable
• DMQ Level 2
• Habitat monitoring experience, although training will be provided.
• Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting qualification.
• Current off-road driving qualification.
