An interesting post on the toxicity of Serasto flea/tick collars from the US. Sounds terribly similar to Bravecto concerns.
Thanks for sharing this.
I use Seresto collars because after lots of research I decided these appear to be the least harmful to the environment and are least impact on my dogs. I shall keep eye out for the findings of the inquiry.
I wonder whether it’s like my experience with Bravecto- it’s a lottery depending upon the dog. I used Bravecto at the suggestion of the HVS Rescue and then had fits after 3 years. Stopped using it, no more fits. May be purely coincidental but some of these anti-tick/flea treatment are akin to nerve agents and I can not longer (rightly IMHO) put my convenience above the dog’s health.I also use them, can’t say I’ve noticed any issues with the dogs.
We used to pull 5-10 ticks off the dogs a week, with the collars we don’t get any now.
How much have Johnson and Johnson paid out over talc over the years? To my knowledge there’s no proven cancer link, but the courts have cost them hundreds of millions, if not billions.Curious. Of the active ingredients, imadacloprid is widely used in spot ons and flumethrin while toxic to insects is pretty safe for mammals. A congressioal sub committee doesn't look like a proper scientific review to me.
A bit unfortunate in you are the xxxxth. Nothing is safe but the 1 in 336th chance of something adverse occurring is more than once a day. Granted fatalities are at 0.8% but actually, having now had cancer twice, I don’t think I’d take even that chance for a dog whose an integral part of the family. My choice……..33 million sold.
98000 ‘incidents’? If my arithmetic is correct - a 1/336 chance or 0.297%. 2500 deaths of pets- 1 in 11785 or 0.00848 chance.
Perhaps you or others would prefer absolutes? Stay inside, dont have firearms or dogs, do weekly shop online, dont interact witj other humans?A bit unfortunate in you are the xxxxth.
