setting up S&B scope

Ok having looked at the pic you sent me, and now uploaded by jcampbellsmith, the only thing I that stands out is the ring positions.
As it is you have no adjustment for eye relief, and it actually looks as if you may be using all of the scope length to span between the mounts.
Are you certain both rings are clamped on a section of parallel tube, and not trying to bite on the taper at each end.
If it were me, if possible I would reverse the rear base just to gain an extra 1/2 or so of room, from the second pic, well I really don't think you
will get it any lower and still miss the bolt handle.

Neil. :)

or get some lapping compound and remove a very small amount from the lower front base evenly, your local blacksmith should be able to give you an equal diameter piece of pipe or round steel you can use. just a thought, but I'm a 'jimmy-rigger' kinda guy

It might be worth buying or sourcing a set of Leupold step back rings so the front one can come back more from the front of the scope giving you more room to get teh eye relief better for you:-

I had to do this on the P-H 1200C with my S&B 6x42.

The Leupold Std mounts were fitted when i brought the rifle and to remove them the mounting screws will need drilling out as some idiot had used the incorrect loctite and over tightened them to boot. I tried undoing them and managed to get all but one undone :banghead:.

As you can see in the close up with low rings there is minimal clearance between objective bell and scope base. In fat a piece of paper can be slipped between them but the photos makes it look like they touch . I had intended to change the mounts for a different type but due to this stuck screw just got the step back rings for now.

Oh yes in case you wondered ....................... your Parker-Hale is an 1100 Deluxe.
