Shelf Material For Gun Cabinet Advice

Hi, I would like to convert a gun cabinet to store reloading kit, by adding adjustable shelves kept in place with earth magnets. I could use ply for the sleeves with added sides, or folded aluminium with lips to secure the magnets, but is there any sort of heat foldable acrylic or Perspex l could use please ?

Keep it simple - 3mm ply cut to the depth you want then make shelves with it & support those shelves using uprights also made with it. If you are concerned about the 3mm width not being enough to support the shelf then glue another piece to it. I have this arrangement for ammunition & it’s cheap & very effective - plenty strong enough to take the weight.

Just use whatever you have kicking about. I used 18mm ply to covert one of my cabinets to an ammo store because I had some. Probably overkill but does the job.

It’s quite expensive Kydex unfortunately, only comes in small pieces and is a bit of overkill. It’s a 7 gun cabinet I’m converting. Was hoping for something that can be molded in the same way, but cheaper

Consumables and also reloading kit if there is any spare space. Obvs not storing primers and powder together .

I did similar with mine, just measured, drilled through and screwed

Just good house keeping to keep it out the way and organised and saves you having to rummage through a small cabinet for ammunition.

Are those shelves a friction fit ?

Yes, but I also have side sections made of the same 18mm ply between the shelves. Everything is reasonably tight but nothing is fixed so I can alter the height of the shelves by changing the sides if I need to.

Why not, they are stored together as complete ammunition? If you look at the ammunition cupboard at most gun shops, they hold significantly higher quantities than the likes of us.
