Shortest Silencer

Surprised the Wildcat Elite Compact has not been mentioned in this thread yet.

Probably because it weigh’s 460g, adds 128mm muzzle forward and is £465.

It doesn’t excel in any area to be honest. The Ase Utra SL51 at 335g, 103mm muzzle forward and £315 appears on paper to beat it in all areas.

Obviously sound suppression isn’t compared here.

It will excel in concentricity, and machining quality. The 3 that i have fitted recently have had less than 0.030” TIR on the exit hole, measured with a calibrated mitutoyo 0.0001 dti on a freshly screw cut muzzle. That means the centreline of the exit hole is less than 1.5 thousands of an inch off centre when fitted to the rifle. Pretty good considering there are 3 sets of threads cut on different machines contributing to that. Both the evo and Sl’s are fine moderators. Very robust.

I can’t dispute the mechanical qualities of the silencer. It just doesn’t meat the design spec and misses the mark across the board to be honest.

If they could have hit the <350g mark and be 120mm then it would be more desirable. As it is, it is over engineered for a sporting silencer. It would be okay on a 25lb target rifle. But who wants to run a silencer on a competition rifle where hear build up creates mirage.

The simple lump that is the SL5i hits the spot and the Freyr and Devik 131 ultimate silence simply smashes it out of the park on weight alone.

Now if they could produce it in Ti it would reduce the weight significantly seeing the Elite Ti is 364g and a lot longer.

The wildcat’s certainly look the part that’s for sure.

Interesting issue,

I consider the hausken md45 disposable and incredibly good.

For anything other than stalking then I agree the sl5i or anything from ase in stainless.

But short and fat it's a brilliant wee mod 45mm diameter 12-13cm front protrusion, 190g
