Shotgun Shell Reloading

Hello,

I have acquired and old 12 gauge lee reloading press and I am interested in trying to reload some 12 gauge cartridges.

I want to make some 2 3/4" 30-32g No6 loads for pigeons with fiber wads, and small amounts of 2 3/4" steel loads in no4 shot for pigeons (i have someone lined up for steel shot pigeons).

I am under no illusion that it inst any/much cheaper, but id like to learn how to do this as i have with my .243 rounds. I also have approx 500 empty once shot cases in a box in the garage.

Can anyone point me towards a good reloading book for shotgun shells?

Thanks

My advice is unless you are very experienced to not use steel shot as the beginning point to start learning how to reload shotgun shells. Steel shot is very unforgiving of mistakes. Also what sort of fibre wads will you be using?

I haven't decided on any was or components yet as i haven't read up on the process. Hence why im asking about manuals etc.

I know you live a long way from him but contact Norman Clarke Gunsmiths, Rugby, Northamptonshire. He really is knowledgeable and a true gent.
He stocks everything and anything to do with shotshell reloading. He can point you in the right direction.

Claygame near Hull are large suppliers of shotgun reloading components they have reloading charts for all common powders you must follow data closely and steel cannot be loaded with felt/fibre wads pm me your tel.no. if i can help further dont know it all as ive only been doing it for 50years Dave
