I thought possession of a firearm was a statutory five years. So how does this rapper get two? Which he’ll likely do one of less any remand if he’s a good boy.I would suggest the sentencing was too light, they were stealing/dealing in guns that were to be used specifically in crime. 30 yrs each should have been handed out and it would deter other scumbags from following suit.

The problem is most sentences are a joke, it seems judges are total out of touch with reality. Two years for possession and the intention to do what with that gun? He certainly wasn't going to shoot a few bunnies.
yes i agree.the rapper only got 2 years for possession, its a jokeI would suggest the sentencing was too light, they were stealing/dealing in guns that were to be used specifically in crime. 30 yrs each should have been handed out and it would deter other scumbags from following suit.
I remember the case well. The woman who was murdered was the wife of chap who was a member of the same shooting club i belonged too. Many many years back a woman was murdered by a gang or individual responding to a advert to sell a revolver in "Guns Review" magazine. Subsequent to which the magazine insisted that all private gun sale adverts used a box number and not as was then the only telephone contact option a landline. It is why if I list and item on Guntrader I only ever give out a mobile number and then take additional precautions if agreeing a sale before taking the purchaser to my house.

There’s various offences that are not taken seriously by the courts.I agree that the sentence for posession was too short, but it may have been "exceptional circumstances" that allowed a departure from the mandatory sentence of 5 years (R-V- Oscar, I believe), however the CPS may appeal, or refer to the Attorney General for an unduly lenient senetence, but I don't understand one of our friends on this site who describes this burglary as being "A normal burglary", there is no such beast!! burglars should be given a mandatory sentence of 15 years, its an appalling offence it ruins peoples lives, and some never ever recover !!!

Sounds like a plan...As a warning (not giving ideas)I seem to recall many years ago, old licences etc. Somebody advertised a 12 bore for sale, the bloke who answered the ad turned up to check the gun over and when he was handed the gun took two cartridges out of his pocket loaded the gun, pointed it at the seller said thank you very much and was on his toes and gone.![]()
The thieves got sentenced to 16 years the rapper got 2 years maybe he had a shotgun certificate and could only been prosecuted for stolen goodsI would suggest the sentencing was too light, they were stealing/dealing in guns that were to be used specifically in crime. 30 yrs each should have been handed out and it would deter other scumbags from following suit.
If he had a certificate and was buying stolen guns it would suggest to me that the use he was going to put them to was not sporting use. Why would anyone with a cert buy a gun off ticket ? The sixteen years is also too light in my view, those guns were stolen with the intent to use them in a very serious crime where lives would be threatened and quite possibly ended, they are scumbags who should serve at least 25 years. If that was the sentence you would quickly see a drop in gun crime which is increasingly common in some of our towns and cities. The thieves got sentenced to 16 years the rapper got 2 years maybe he had a shotgun certificate and could only been prosecuted for stolen goods
If it's the case that I'm thinking of (in Kent) the victim was a friend of my wife and I. If my memory serves, the stolen hand guns were found by chance in the boot of a car that was stopped for a traffic offence in London.I remember the case well. The woman who was murdered was the wife of chap who was a member of the same shooting club i belonged too.
I seem to recall it was members of the IRA who murdered her. Must have been at least 40 years ago.
Yes it was in Kent. Shoreham, rifle and pistol club.If it's the case that I'm thinking of (in Kent) the victim was a friend of my wife and I. If my memory serves, the stolen hand guns were found by chance in the boot of a car that was stopped for a traffic offence in London.
