Should I go to the dark side?

Go for it. They really are very good. I have two stocks (one pretty thumbhole wood, one plastic), two bolts, four barrels and two scopes. All interchange predictably and repeatedly, which is where the value is for me. The modularity is very easy to utilise, and allows real flexibility. They are accurate too.

If you; mostly shoot driven boar; fly a lot with your rifle; have a car with a very small boot and can get used to "de-cocking" your rifle instead of opening the bolt then get one of the straight pull Blazers. If not, you're unlikely to achieve any material advantage to your sport over and above what you'd get from a normal turn bolt.

None of the above is a reason not to get one if you fancy it.

Used an R8 in Norway 3 years ago which sowed the seed. Bought an R8 in 6.5 this summer after a lot of research. Looked at all the stock options but decided to go with the standard stock and standard barrel - it all just fits and works beautifully. Have developed a good load with 140grn Sierras and can't praise the rifle high enough. I was always a Sauer man and was not convinced that I'd find a benefit but the Blaser has become my number one rifle and the Sauers are for sale. It handles better and groups better at longer range than my Sauers. Not really tried the barrel change options as the Sauer also offered this. To be honest barrel changing is a faff and 6.5 kills everything. Might get a 375 barrel for fun but that would be it.

I have a very small boot. Also on some hunts we car pool. The ability to put a blaser in pieces in a duffel bag is very important to save luggage space.

Well having had all my rifles stolen last week...17hmr,.204 tikka,sauer202 6.5,Ruger precision6.5,steyr tac elite 308,and my Rizzini 9.3x74r double and Hungary boar trip on the 9th loaming
