I have the opportunity to buy only one scope but would like some reviews from the more experienced, mounting on my Sako A7 308 probably use more target than hunting.

Not quite sure why Slash comes out with these pearls of wisdom.
He seems to revel in negativity and of course he knows more than anyone so feels compeled to issue these statements ... his wee band of followers love it and often shower him with likes ... so he keeps doing it.
It's probably just his way of covering up his insecurity and to boost his self importance, a typical 'show off' method.
The Sightron Stac is often used with 'add-on' night vision as the optics pass IR without much loss.
The Viper is a great scope, too, especially if you are thinking of F-class or FTR, as the greater mag is ideal ...
A 308 has around 5MOA drop at 350yds so both of those scopes on a zero MOA mount will only dial out to between 250 and 300yds (depending on your choice of bullet weight/MV). With a 20 MOA rail/mount you could dial in around 800yds.

This is in noway a criticism, but will the mag' range be adequate for the ranges you intend to shoot ? It's very difficult for anyone to give good advice if they don't have all the details and very difficult to find a Scope that will be great for both disciplines . If possible try to have a look through them before parting with your hard earned . I didn't like the Vortex glass but there's plenty who do .
No doubt someone will be along to tell you to by an S&B or Swaro . Wait for it !
The best thing you can do, in my opinion, is view each scope in person and see which you prefer. Your eyes might suit one type of glass better than another and no one can tell you which you’ll like the ‘look’ of!
In terms of target shooting, I have First Focal Plane (FFP) MRAD (so 1cm clicks of the turret at 100m) for my scopes. I find that works best for me; you’ve listed one scope that’s FFP and one that’s Second FP.
It doesn’t make much difference as you’ll get used to whichever system your scope uses. I like my way as regardless of the magnification, the click value is always the same. I also have a couple of mates who shoot with me using the same setup, so we can spot for each other.
Lastly, are you happy working in Imperial measurements? 1/4 MOA clicks works out to be roughly 1/4” at 100yds, whereas 0.1 MRAD clicks is 1cm at 100m. You can work out what the difference is if you find yourself on a range measured in a different unit to your scope though!
Not a fan of either of those models personally
The Siiiis the only Sightron range I would consider as a sensible purchase
I have had several in both 6-24 and 8-32 spec one sat on my 338/300 Norma and performed admirably
I struggle with the lower range vortex
The glass just isnt there at high mag
Mechanically they are solid though

Inside 600m the Element Helix 6-24 is excellent for the money £370-425 depending on ffp/sfp
Up the budget and Look at delta
The Stryker and Titanium are awesome
The Siiiis the only Sightron range I would consider as a sensible purchase

leave the vortex where it is ! had 3 all went back to be exchanged/repaired still no good ,milky white reticle on the higher mag so anything above 600 yards the target whites out in warm bright wether. never owned a sightron so cant comment on that but definatley leave the vortex alone !

Same. Found the 4-20 eye box terribly fussy above 16x mag and glass very milky, couldn't live with it

Optics Warehouse have a nice ex demo Delta 4.5-30 with MCZ II ret in their pre owned. Very similar to the Bushnell and at the right money

Icing on the cake for me was when I saw a fox, with my naked eyes, bout 120yds away, standing in a freshly cut silage field. Put eye down on scope and could not make it out at all! This was about half hour before dark.
