Silver labrador

Once a dog is accepted by the kennel club of any country its Breed standard in theory is set in stone.
So the true Labrador is either Black, chocolate/liver or yellow, red is a newish term and never heard of some years ago and silver never. As for the dna tests, I suggest you read some more and consider whats said.
Some Uk Labrador breeders have deliberately crossed them with border collies, for added speed and send out for dog trials.
When tested for DNA, the answer is that the genes are so similar its not possible to give 100% answer on breeding once they are back crossed 2 generations.
So if you cross a labrador with anything and back to labrador a few times, unless you spent a huge sum of money on tests, you would never know your dogs were not labs.
That’s not strictly true the breed standard is laid out my the KC board approval committee, a notation of (NB) can be used to show a true representation of the actual dog although it doesn’t meet breed standards as to non dilute the “recognised” standard as in this case for colour she shows (NB) silver. I really don’t get your point on reading up on DNA as someone who has spent 3/4 of there life commercially breeding horses for the the foreign market I believe I have a better understanding of DNA and genetic coding than most but il take your word for.

Are there any known issues of breeding silver to silver?

Only asking as I used to keep snake and you can’t breed Jaguar coloured carpet pythons to another jaguar coloured carpet python as it causes major neurological issues. 👍

Isn't it where health problems and alopecia kick in, crossing/doubling up the d gene?
