I don’t think he was complaining, he wants to know if there’s a decent enough spotter that doesn’t have all the bells & whistles for a reasonable price. I don’t use all of the functions on my spotter but I still had to pay for them, likewise most other tech’ these days.c. Buy a spotter, don't learn how to use it and then come on here and complain about it
So OK clever clogs - somewhere prominent, like really prominent, probably in the middle of the myriad of buttons, each of which in turn leads to multiple choice submenus offering functions in a variety of modes and colours, none of which the average chap may ever need, why can’t we have a BIG RED BUTTON sitting two inches above the others which overides all those functions and simply turns it on and off? Huh?Complain all you want, but no-one is going to make a thermal without all the "toys" just because you and a few old luddites don't want them
These "toys" cost virtually nothing to incorporate into a spotter and make them sellable to the majority of people who find them useful and increase their enjoyment of using the spotter
You have thre choices:
a. Don't buy a thermal spotter
b. Buy a thermal spotter and learn how to use the feckin thing
c. Buy a spotter, don't learn how to use it and then come on here and complain about it

The big red button and one that glows in the dark - like really, really brightly.Every thermal I've ever seen or used has an on/off button - just because it might not be big and red doesn't make it a bad product
When the thermal is off, you press the button and it switches on, and when the thermal is on, you press it and it switches off - what less do you want

Yes sir, I started with one. Just a bit limited.
That sounds slightly suspicious!
Pulsar XM30 Key can be had for about £600 2nd hand. Pretty easy to set up, lasts 4-5h on a battery, and just need to switch on and off. Plenty powerful enough for me - can spot roe out to 500m or so - just a speck at that distance but all that's needed.
Bonus.
I don't if I'm on the same hymn sheet but mine has a big bright green indicator light, like I need to tell the whole world I'm there bright.The big red button and one that glows in the dark - like really, really brightly.
