Last one to go…. The clue is we have nothing quite like it in the UK. Our closest niche would be occupied by brock.

Haha I should of guessed It was Quebec animals being the French territory of Canada, oops! a lot of these make sense now that I realise a lot of the mustelids were American, It widens the audience of possible species by quite a large portion!

Good game! I should dig out the various bird heads I have, that will confuse a few.

I’m glad that it brought some interest. I am always amazed to see the biomechanics and features of the various skulls. How you can understand the animal’s behaviour, diet and evolution just by looking at the skull.

I also loved seeing all the French names, particularly for the racoon, directly translating Raton Laver to the boys. My son explained that it was “actually a myth that raccoons wash their food, they hunt by feeling under the water for aquatic invertebrates and then to open shells takes them some time and manipulation as they don’t have opposable thumbs. So it just looks like they are washing it.”

google “raccoon and cotton candy” (your candy floss) . Hilarious to watch them “wash it” and it disappears.

That said - raccoons are cruel heartless little bastages. I treat them “rather unfavorably” every single time I meet them.

Ha that’s brilliant! Clearly they do habitually wash their food. I showed the boys to much hilarity. I would have loved to go raccoon or coyote shooting over here, no such luck. I probably should have joined a North American forum to seek advice. Do you have any American forum recommendations in case the opportunity ever arises again?
