Sling advice

I've got a similar problem - 24 inch varmint fluted barrel plus mod - makes for a super stable and accurate but somewhat unwieldy rifle. I found a z aim helpful, but ultimately it was uncomfortable after a long day walking 12 plus miles up and down rough terrain. The solution - a vorn lynx. Makes it very easy / comfortable to carry and super stable, especially when crawling.

Hmm Ay I just looked they are out 😤😤typical like!! There’s surely somewhere in the Uk that does them hopefully
To be fair, if you have a bit of webbing and the buckle/s. You can always make your own. Not exactly the most complicated thing. You can get a three way sliding buckle a la rucksack chest strap and the other end is a bit of string.
I bet many of us would have bits of old gear we could salvage the bits from.

Yea I looked at the rubber one?? Is there any difference apart from the rubber straps? Sorry I am not scratch on the specs of these 👍 if not I will just get the normal
I went with the Hybid one. It has non slip backing only on the loop that sits over your sling. Works perfectly.
My pal got the Tracking Hunter model, which has non slip backing along the full length of the webbing. He is perfectly happy with his.
My advice would be to choose one of these two models rather than the Basic model.

I have a z aim and a north stalker(i think). They are the same design but the north stalker is a bit better quality.

I certainly would not have a heavy barrelled rifle again. A rifle has to shoot well but it also has to be comfortable to carry. I would prefer a short, lightweight rig with a stock with flush cups swivel both on the bottom and side

I had a vorn lynx but for woodland stalking they arnt the best, be great for open hill though

sounds like a plan 😁 going to get one of these and try out the wife's sewing machine. Made some bolt and magazine holders out of a knackered barbour jacket earlier in the year and easier than I thought.

I had the same issue and asked for advice. I tried the muzzle down, but found it often snaged. I then tried the z-aim style, different brand but equal quality, and that was uncomfortable over long periods and to be honest I just didn't like it. I then bought a niggeloh backpack sling, the idea was good but I lacked confidence and didn't like the "play" in the straps, so after much trial and tribulation I finally settled with the Tab Gear biathlon sling and qd flush cup/stud system.! Top quality, great design, comfortable and I'm 100% confident it will hold my heavy rig

Here is my Mk1 version of an SGS made from a £1 dog collar from a charity shop, some webbing and nylon cord out of the wife's sewing box. I don't think Harpsoe has anything to worry about though, need more practice on the sewing machine ....

Seems to work fine ponci walking and bending over in the house. Will be trying it out tonight foxing, I walk a lot and also carry an aluminium Deathgrip tripod so the main reason for making this is for when setting up the tripod the rifle is not swinging about as it's fitted with a T8.

The main reason I don't often use a bipod myself it spoils the balance of my rifle as does a mod in my opinion and if I can I'll also ditch it too, I either use sticks for roe/sika or shooting off a small light foam filled rucksack on the hill for reds. I do however recommend the ruck slings by Niggeloh easier to spread the weight of the rifle if you're stalking over any distance and stops the rifle slipping off the shoulder. Not a fan of carrying full length barrel with mod muzzle down as I'm only 5'10" not 6'4" 🤣.
I don't give a fig if this makes anybody upset or a keyboard warrior either as everybody has their own views on what's important to them. I don't take shots over 200yrds at deer and most are sub 100yrds as I'm a stalker not a sniper only using a bipod for target shooting myself🤭
