slug shooting

Am trying to get slugs on my firearms cert for shooting Wild Boar , Police Scotland not keen on this . Anyone have experience of using slugs in the UK.

My .308/12g combination gun is conditioned for solid slug AOLQ, which in my book covers wild boar
How far away the beast is will determine which barrel is used first.

Yes, D&C here as well. Original ‘good reason’ for which I applied was driven shooting abroad, with the additional requirement for zeroing/practice in the U.K. plus boar here. But, as I don’t have conditions attached to individual firearms, it gets included in the general one that applies to all firearms and ammo on the FAC for deer & AOLQ.

With driven slug, remember to swing through and aim just ahead of the eye stalks.

With those slimey slow mofos I find it better to use a reverse swing, otherwise a cartridge loaded with rock salt usually does the trick.

LOL Too much carcass damage for my liking.
Its difficult to miss the backstraps if they're shifting.. : )

Try something simpler and less painful - bang head against a brick wall. I tried to get them on my FAC for boar with my combination gun. The response was a clear NO from Police Scotland and that if I wanted to use them overseas I could buy them over there. I even tried to argue for zeroing etc, but still no. So instead got a 2nd barrel for my combination so its now a double rifle.

In the end I added a liner barrel to turn my combination gun into a double rifle.

They do allow them and I have never had it questioned on renewal. My 5 shot shot gun and solid slugs is on my ticket with no special requirements, its for all the usual practices of shooting. eg vermin, deer and all legal. They are great for destroying injured cattle and horses as you don't want to get to close. If you have deer stalking with enclosed woodland they cannot really refuse.
