Smith and Wesson m&p 15-22 upgrades and modification ideas

Just picked up a smith and Wesson m&p sport and wondering if anyone else on here has got one and upgraded it, or added any bits? I’d love to change the trigger in mine and maybe add a bipod, anyone got any ideas and photos?
Cheers,
Tom

M&P 15-22 Performance Center model with Pard NV008LRF with on-board IR set to flood, additional slimline laser IR from PrecisionNightVision set to spot - so the best of both worlds for close up or further out - MagPul bipod, and Wildcat Whisper moderator to complete the ensemble.

Here I was thinking I only needed a trigger and a bipod, I need myself a quad and night vision!😂 looks like and awesome setup you’ve got there, the performance centre comes with a two stage trigger doesn’t it? If it does how do you find it? Cheers

I installed an aluminum fore-end, a Mag Pul stock and a binary trigger. The forend required removing the barrel nut and replacing that as well.~Muir

Muir can probably comment better than I can about the difference in trigger types although I’m very happy with mine as is and have no plans to change it. I was concerned about early reports of failures to extract/feed reliably with subs in the Performance Centre rifle due to it’s ‘match’ chamber (?), but they appear to have addressed that as I can feed it with anything and it’s 100% reliable - and very accurate to boot!

The only failing (if you can call it that), and you’ve probably already discovered it, is that it’s very easy to get through high volumes of ammo due to being such fun to shoot. I was a bit embarrassed at the amount of empty cases in the long grass after a recent session, so I’ve added a Caldwell brass catcher to it.

I have to say the first time I shot it, I thought I’d put a few through it to test it, ended up shooting 200😂😂 but it was good fun

How’s the binary trigger working out? And all legal in the U.K.? Is it pretty accurate on the second shot? And awesome stuff btw

If I was a betting man, I'd say the binary is not legal or available in the UK but it illustrates that any AR trigger can be used. Yes, I double tap a 3" disk off hand at 25M as standard practice. Nice accessory but $400 US here.~Muir

I bought a new M@P 15/22 sport (the new version) mine was a bit of an anomaly is it came with the performance centre stock already fitted but it was marked and priced as the sport. I think someone made an error at the factory and fitted the performance centre stock and pistol grip! The rubber hogue type pistol grip is a definite improvement in my opinion over the hard plastic one fitted to the sport.

I've fitted a vortex sparc AR red dot sight which is very good. Lifetime warranty and rated for the .223/5.56 AR's. Magload in the Uk do a range of accessories worth looking at.

The trigger is perfectly useable but like yourself I would like to upgrade it if I could find something at a reasonable price, but as with most things designed for the American market, they are double the price by the time they hit our shores!

Well, the Binary is not a match trigger. It was equal or slightly better than the factory trigger assembly when it broke in. People criticize the M&P for being 'plastic'. I couldn't care. It is a comfortable, fun rifle to shoot that is very accurate. I handed my S&W to a 15 year old girl who put 25 rounds into a 2" circle at 20 -ish yards on a steel plate, standing. I know that bullet goes where the red dot points. I often drag it around in my truck when I'm in the country with a bag full of magazines, fully loaded. It is a reliable as it gets: This young lady and her family ran through 12 fully loaded 25 round mags, 4 ten round mags, and two fifty round drums in a sitting. 440 rounds. This is on the heels of couple of Sundays ago when it had, I'm certain, 500+ rounds through it in two hours. I don't remember how many rounds it had through it before that. So perhaps a 1000 rounds without a glitch or hiccup.

What beats other clones cold, and something that S&W had a great deal of foresight in, is that the magazines (here) are cheap. The MSRP is $24.95 US but on line you can always find them for $14 in FDE or Black. Ten rounders are available as well. The mags are a snap to clean, too.

Say what you want about the S&W's but they work. Tacticool 22 is the company that made my barrel shroud and nut. The ship world wide.

Someone makes 'match' barrels but they aren't threaded so I didn't pay attention. Besides, the stock barrel is plenty heavy.

Enjoy your rifle.~Muir

I’ve noticed that about everything gun related coming from the states, wonder if magazines and triggers are legal to bring back yourself, or get something posted over to keep costs down

So here’s mine:

• Magpul FDE CTR stock with extended Magpul pad.
• Magpul FDE advanced fore grip.
• LaRue Tactical grip.
• Plinker Arms extended harging handle.
• Battle Arms Ambi safety.
• Norgon LLC Ambi mag release
• Prince Defense fore grip (in front of magwell.
• Magpul FDE rail covers.
• CMC flatblade trigger group (sublime).
• Barrel Shroud - I turned and milled this one (copied one from the US that couldn’t be shipped to the UK) and had it black anodised.
• Mag release, charging handle and ambi-safe painted FDE (got the Magpul colour matched into spray paint by Avonmouth Paint & Supplies in Bristol).
• And the obligatory Black Dog 50 round drum magazine :)

I stopped just short of a full-fat ACOG - looking back it’s apparent I had more spare time then than I do now and clearly a mild fixation! That said, I’ve easily put plus of 3000 rounds through it, not particularly been meticulous about cleaning and only had a handful of FTF and stovepipes. The 15-22 is fun for all the family!

MAG load for race bits ie mag well, 30 deg Ambi safety, Ambi large Mag release, 6rnd mag extensions etc etc in many colours

Awesome stuff, where did you get your trigger from and dare I ask how much it was? But have to say that it looks bloody good[emoji1305]

And just to make sure, are they Screwcut 1/2 by 28? So 1/2 unef? Would like to add a moderator as I’ve found it shoots cheap eley subs pretty well so far
