So . . . .

So that's at least 48% of the UK electorate who are, in your view, not as British as you are? Actually, a very old friend of mine and his family were round last weekend, and announced they're moving to Copenhagen. He's as English as you could ever hope for. Blond hair. Shouts at the rugby ref, wears an England shirt, thinks he can speak French but can't really, he's just shouting. He said, and I quote, "Brexiters tell me that if I love the EU so much, I should just fXXX off there. Well, OK, I will then. Which is a shame really, because with us all leaving, that's about three nurses or teachers salaries removed from the tax base".

I very much doubt they will be the last to follow that route.

aren't they paid from the tax pot therefore paying themselves so realistically not contributing to the tax pot?

and yes , 48% can clear off , 48% less guardian reading limp wristed liberal wet snowflakes less in the country , whats not to like!

You both clearley demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of Turkey thats in line with your level of understanding about Brexit.

Bit strong coming from you isn't it, as it's you who doesn't have a clue what the out voters wanted.
Just incase,
We wanted out of the EU, out with no deal is the only way that we can be sure we get to start again from a level playing field.

Neil.

When it comes to the Northern Ireland border, the EU will never agree to anything that doesn't involve either the annexation and retention of Northern Ireland with a border down the Irish sea or the abandonment of Brexit altogether so the whole of the UK remains in the EU.
This has nothing to do with honouring the Good Friday Agreement (which their backstop agreed with May breaches), nor with the preservation of peace or the technical difficulty (non-existent) of managing a frictionless border with technology.
It has everything to do with the fact that they are terrified of having people living within the EU's overpriced, protectionist customs union in the Republic of Ireland being able to walk across an invisible land border unchecked and into the free world where they can buy a wider range of equal or better quality goods at a cheaper price. Because if that happens the penny will drop for 5 million people in Ireland that the Emperor really does have no clothes, and that realisation will spread like a contagion across the EU. Then their tower of Babel will start to collapse. That is what they call "protecting the integrity" of the single market.

+1 So mote it be. :tiphat:

The expectations of people who want to leave the EU are laughable really? surely there desires are as valid as yours? and you both get one vote...….

We will continue to mirror EU law to ensure we can get a trade deal with the EU will we , you know this for fact do you or is it just your opinion?

We will continue to abide by EU regulations because we need a trade deel with the EU and conversely they need a deal with us , who says their regulations are correct and not just blagging to protect their little empire?

The control of the fishing waters agreement allowing fishing to within a 12mile border of the UK was formulated and signed in 1964 WELL BEFORE WE JOINED THE EU so stop suggesting the EU is to blame whos to blae for the quotas that mean we have to throw good fish back?

Will McCallum, Greenpeace UK head of oceans, said leaving the convention would not in itself deliver a better future for the UK fishing industry, and that for years governments had blamed the EU for their "failure" to support the small-scale, sustainable fishers.

He said, for example, that the UK had had the power since 2013 to decide how to allocate its EU fishing quota but that a report by Greenpeace in 2016 had found almost two thirds of that quota was concentrated in the hands of three companies.

He said the UK would also still be bound by the UN convention of the law of the seas - which requires cooperation with neighbours.

But Mr McCallum said he was "excited" that the government was making fishing a priority, after fearing fishing communities would end up "at the bottom of the heap" amidst complex Brexit negotiations.

Environmental law firm ClientEarth consultant Dr Tom West said the move appeared to be an aggressive negotiating tactic.

"As a country outside the EU we need to consider how we can best co-operate with our neighbours, rather than unilaterally withdrawing from all agreements in the hope that standing alone will make us better."

And the price for all this rhetoric and nonsense? rhetoric and nonsense in your opinion , one tiny voice with it's own opinion , part of a group of voices that lost a democratic referendum...……...

Of course what nobody has yet mentioned if there is a Hard Border with the Irish Republic that then causes unemployment there...where will these unemployed likely come? Here to mainland Great Britain. As under the 1922 Anglo-Irish Treaty every Irish Citizen has the right to live and work here and this is immutable. So be careful that actions have consequences.

No. You need to think the maths through. lets take nurses (wonderful people that they are) NHS nurses are funded by the NHS ? we the people fund the NHS ? so any tax nurses pay go's back into the same pot it was taken from ?

james o'narsissist is a bully and just bangs on about his own well rehearsed arguments and talks over any counter arguments that he cant answer , he is a blight on an otherwise excellent radio station , a radio station I particularly like because it shows all sides of the arguments but he is the only presenter that comes across as a bully. why not show his interview with JRM , that didn't go quite so well !

If I make the sort of responses that I would like to make, not only will the thread be locked, but I'll also be banned.

don't do that , we can have differences of opinion without actually falling out I hope?
