I noticed a sock thread not so long ago.I have just emailed Smartwool.I have a few pairs of Smartwool the Mountaineering Extra Heavy Duty Crew socks.Had them a couple of months.Washed as care label says.Bloody rubbish socks.All the cushioning on the heels have become flat as a pancake.More cushioning on a piece of bog roll.🤣
I remember wearing Smartwool years ago and they lasted ages.
So might try Darn Tough Tactical.Or try and find a British sock firm.

Dutch army socks....Spaniels love them.
 
If you like plenty of cushioning , have you tried the mod issue coolmax , theyre a sandy white colour so theyre not the most practical colour but i really rate them .
 
I have multiple pairs of merino wool Tog 24 socks. Some of them are years old. As long as you don't use biological detergent (it eats the wool) they last well
 
Hoggs with the cushion foot plenty long enough to wear with breeks and not over expensive
