Solognac - water resistance

Hi all,

Who are users of solognac kit ? Looking at some new trousers but not looking for them to be completely waterproof due to noise , does anyone know if they are water resistant? So that if I kneel or lie on wet ground I won't get drenched ?

Cheers!

Damp proof at best, but a bar of FjallRaven wax and a hair dryer makes an easy upgrade to their ability to shed water.

Don't know which model you are looking at. But generally the Solngac brand uses a basic membrane which will withstand something like a 5000 to 7000 mm water column. This means water will seep through when sitting or kneeling on wet/moist ground. Just for comparison, Goretex has a water column of 45000 mm.

That's what I did recently to a pair of Solognac 900 trousers. Just the knee and seat reinforced areas. Works very well and they dry quickly. I find them a better fit than the Fjallraven Vidda Pro trousers... which are very similar... and £140.

I purchased one of the lightweight jackets as my Ridgeline is too warm in all but the coldest weather. Has handled some pretty torrential rain well over the last couple of seasons and also appears to be pretty tough when beating. Can't beat the value.

Yet to try the trousers.

Been using solognac with Novadry technology for years. Silent and entirely waterproof without building up sweat or being too
hot. Everything Harkila wishes it was!

I use their Inverness trousers routinely for stalking, love them. very comfy and tough, like a good pair of jeans, they keep the majority of damp out but (as advertised) not totally waterproof, as said above, a bar of fjallraven wax does wonders!

as a side note after reading this thread, by chance a brand new pair of solognac trousers came up on the bay of evil,, I got them for a tenner, they arrived this morning and I have to say they appear very well made, comfortable and reasonably quiet,[not as silent as the deerhunter or cabelas trousers I also have. but well pleased for a tenner, I expect them to be warm in the coming months too.

Which model were these? Are they dedicated waterproofs?

I've also been looking at the Inverness 300 as they look a bit more robust and damp proof will definitely give them a go for £30!
