Sonos Amp replacement

I no longer trust searching the internet since between AI generated nonsense and sponsored reviews I can't find anything useful any more
So I'm here asking you

I've speakers in my ceiling and they run off a Sonos amp which lives in the basement and I can control from my phone etc and has been working for 14 years now

A few days ago the amp went pop and some smoke came out. I'm assuming it is beyond repair and I'm looking for a replacement

Sonos system was fine when I first got it but has just got worse and worse and last year the app was broken for months and it never connects properly any more so I'm in the market for an alternative and surely the world has moved on since I got this set up

The speakers are generic and the acoustics are mid and I only listen to radio so I don't need amazing quality just something which connects to WiFi and is just an amp with outputs for old fashioned copper speaker wire but no actual speakers of its own

Anyone got any advice ta

Hmm
I've used those for cars before. Was hoping for a slightly more robust system

If I have the amp switched on and plugged into this all the time will I just get that low humm the entire time

Thats what worries me about a separate amp and WiFi input gadget. I'll need the amp sitting powered up the whole time

Suggest you DM Chesterp. This is his area of expertise as he builds amps and all techy HiFi.

Have a look at Wiim Pro amp.
Great piece of kit

Or go for mid to high end second hand off eBay, I’ve had some proper bargains
