I understand, most taste like they should be removing paint or dissolving copper from a barrel but I have come to enjoy them.I have never been able to get in to Brandy. To my uncultured taste, Spanish brandy tastes very sweet and French brandy tastes soapy. I don’t mind South African brandy though, has a bit more bite to it.
I really need to try some more and find something I like.
Carajillo, a fine Spanish tradition where thankfully there is no such thing as "a bit too early".If I get a rough to my palette one it goes in coffee!
I too have a bottle of Pusser's Rum in the dresser, amongst a few others.First discovered Spanish brandy on the evening we got engaged in castelleote Aragon, back in March this year, after bagging my ibex. Had the cardenal mendoza that’s night, liked it so much we got a bottle and the solera grand reserva too on our way home. The Spaniards seem to warm the glass before pouring, to the extent the fumes are a delight to experience as well as drink. Lovel stuff.
Yeah the 15y old is not too shabby by itself. Quite a penchant for the aged rums, Nicaraguan ones are better imo.I too have a bottle of Pusser's Rum in the dresser, amongst a few others.
looks a fine one to be sure. Not tried it, but have had a cheaper diplomatic previously The Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva, which was lovely. Had to resist this yesterday in Costco as a birthday treat, (they had it for £47). Not tried it before , have you? Some mixed reviews online put me off initially, but this thread has got me rethinkingI have a very nice Venezuelan rum that my better half bought me for Christmas, Diplomatico No.3.
These days I find that there’s nothing really that I need for birthdays or Christmas so just ask for a nice bottle of something, no point in buying anything else.
good choice of rum!First discovered Spanish brandy on the evening we got engaged in castelleote Aragon, back in March this year, after bagging my ibex.
