Sportsmatch mounts

Afternoon,

Just purchased a set of sports march mounts HOP92 to be exact and have fitted them to my rifle. Has anybody else experienced the paint flaking off when tightening down the ring screws?

I have used them for 14 years and some of the coating has come off, however they have never come loose or moved which in my book is why I use them. For the price they are v good

No, can’t remember seeing any of mine do that but they’re built to a price and do a solid job. Touch up with a black marker pen if it bothers you?

Personally I’ve never used them, I’ve only used warne or optiloc’s.

But of they do the job and for the price like suggested use a marker pen to touch up

Given the price point of these rings, a bit of flaking paint is probably forgivable.

I've got them on all my air rifles and 22lr all the same as your picture but never lost zero can't fault them for the money

Thanks for the replies everyone, I usually go for Teir one mounts but thought I’d give these a try due to the good reviews. I can give them a touch up but even at £154 I would have expected the not to flake or chip. However as long as they hold zero then it’s not a major drama. Thanks again

Yes I use Sportsmatch scope mounts on most of my rifles and most of them show some small paint flakes around the screw heads. They hold zero in my experience so I don't mind these paint flakes. Iirc Sportsmatch made scope mounts for AI sniper rifles, which I also have a set of. They have a slightly different finish resembling anodising and hold zero just as well as the regular production Sportsmatch mounts.

I had heard that Sportsmatch had made mounts for Accuracy International too, but this was strongly denied by AI when I asked them about that.

I've never looked that close at my onesvto be fair but like @Tim.243 my ones have never been a problem in about the same time scale and they weren't new to me.

I have never been a fan of Sportsmatch.

No personal experience of Tier One myself but I've heard a couple of guys that have been disappointed with them and claim that they are over-rated. One of those guys however rated Vortex quite highly.

I think some seem to regard all Sportsmatch rings as being the same standard. They have a range of rings from the cheap and cheerful to those of quite reasonable quality. Never personally complained about the ones that I have used or still own.

It's just some of the anodising coming away by abrasion from the milled hex cap bolts. Sportsmatch used to come with smooth cap bolts which negates this but it seems now no longer? I replace all mine with smooth stainless including the clamp screws.

I've used them in the past (on a PH 1200TX 308), they're steel and very good value for money......still got 'em kicking about in a drawer somewhere.

They’re the one piece quick release mounts which I decided to give a bash for when my Nocpix Nite turns up which will be in 2030 at this rate
