My Nephew has outgrown his first air rifle, a little Webley hand down from me. He is looking for a springer and would like iron sights preferably a peep sight. He is just shooting targets at the moment, but might graduate to live quarry in the next few years. Budget around £200. Does anyone have anything they are looking to move? Also interested in suggestions of what to buy new if nothing suitable is available second hand.

I have a clean BSA Mercury complete with it's open sights and a scope. £150 + £15 post. I used for many years and found the open sights to be the best in the business .

Wont go wrong with a. 22 hw99s in fact the best lightweight springer you'll find. Can be found around 200 2nd hand

Thanks. I was heading towards this conclusion and I’ve seen some people set them up with a Williams peep sight. Not a fan of the funny shaped new stock.

Why a .22 over .177?

177 are harsher to shoot than .22. They can be made nicer with just a light stripdown polish and pistin/spring liner to take away the twang if the individual rifle has it

There’s a HW30 for sale on Airgun Forums right now within your budget. Perfect youth springer

Scratch that, it’s just sold 6 minutes ago!

Definitely recommend a HW99, brilliant rifles.
