Squirrel trap recommendation

Live catch or lethal, if you have reds in your area I'd suggest live catch, which are pretty much generic, if only greys, fenns in a tunnel on a plank leaning against a tree are a very effective method
Pretty sure for squirrels a lethal trap can't be a tunnel and must be a dead end.

The "re homing " centre I use is on the Fourteen acre website.
Cage trap with a chiropractic spring loaded neck bar😊.
Currently rehomed 30 upto now, last one was October 24.
Trouble free winter for the bird feeders.

Can you show the legislation regarding this please, I've looked and nothing suggests a tunnel can't be used
From what I've read the issue is more that you can't use a Fenn to trap a stoat so if there are likely stoats about (which is almost everywhere there are grey squirrels) you need to take steps to avoid targeting them by mistake. There was a very long thread here about it a few months back.

See where you're coming from now, to clarify, my tunnels are wooden sided and have chicken mesh on top and wire to restrict access, this allows for easier checking and prevent non target species from entering, this in turn is mounted on a plank and leant against a tree ( I don't have them fully enclosed and on the ground as per the method for stoat and weasel), ideally towards a bird feeder.

Next question: is it legal to use Fenns etc for rats and/or squirrels without a license in Scotland?

I’ve just gone down a very confusing rabbit hole.

Seeing as I can but Fenns over the counter in my local Harbro, I’m assuming there’s no licence requirement??

I have used a Fenn MK4 and also a DOC 150 in the plastic two chamber tunnel both baited with peanuts.

I favour the DOC 150 as I don’t have to block off the end of the trap as in the Fenn . The DOC 150 also seems to have a much more powerful spring . Regards Rookandrabbit.

I presume you’re doing it off our own back?
Which is fine.
If you’re paid for it, you need trained up.

Sorry old link.
