I've tried this recipe myself and can tell you that it really is "Top Nosh"! The only thing that I did extra was to add some mashed carrot to the "Bubble and Squeak Topping" which made it even more pleasing to the eye when topped with Grated Red Leicester Cheese! Not only have I tried this myself but I have given out literally dozens to neighbors, friends and those that are struggling and I have had nothing back except glowing reports and requests for more. When you process a deer you will almost certainly have a fair amount of diced left to use as mince so this is a great way to use it up to create a fabulous meal instead of having to just cramming your freezer with loads and loads of sausages and burgers! (Not that there is anything wrong with Venison Sausages or Venison Burgers - I love them and so does everyone else that I make them for)
Give it a go, it's well worth the work that goes into these "Stalkers Pies"!
