Hi all, looking for a stalk this week(from 28 Dec to 3rd Jan) in and around Essex in other Tier 4 regions. I'm not after trophy but just to fill the fridge. Preferably small deers, cwd, muntjack or roe etc. Both accompanied stalk or unaccompanied high seat are fine. I hold DSC1, i've got experience and i am insured by BASC.
No park deer please.
Please PM me.
Thanks.

I equally have sort clarification and unlike the BASC statement released just after the start of the 2nd lock down ( Tier3 at that time) I haven’t received any emails since. After searching my interpretation was that certain types of shooting was still permitted. However I have spoken to the police control room and they sought clarification and came back to me stating Tier4, therefore it was up to date and the statement they rolled off was basically the BASC statement previously mentioned. I think it was realised by Countryside Alliance. I was not looking to go stalking however but carry out pest control.

Bottom line is I just want to know what’s Fact and legal. As it wouldn’t be the 1st time I have been misinformed by the police.

Need to re-look at BASC site as Mikes reply came in whilst typing this hence the edit.

Meeting others safely

In general, you must not meet socially or carry out any activities with another person. However, you can exercise or meet in a public outdoor place with people you live with, your support bubble (or as part of a childcare bubble), or with one other person.

You should minimise time spent outside your home. When around other people, stay 2 metres apart from anyone not in your household - meaning the people you live with - or your support bubble. Where this is not possible, stay 1 metre apart with extra precautions (e.g. wearing a face covering).

You must not meet socially indoors with family or friends unless they are part of your household or support bubble.

You can exercise or visit a public outdoor place:

  • by yourself
  • with the people you live with,
  • with your support bubble,
  • or, when on your own, with 1 person from another household.
Children under 5, and up to two carers for a person with a disability who needs continuous care are not counted towards the outdoors gatherings limit.

Public outdoor places include:

  • parks, beaches, countryside accessible to the public, forests
  • public gardens (whether or not you pay to enter them)
  • allotments
  • the grounds of a heritage site
  • outdoor sports courts and facilities
  • playgrounds
You cannot meet people in a private garden, unless you live with them or have formed a support bubble with them.

You must wear a face covering in many indoor settings, such as shops or places of worship where these remain open, and on public transport, unless you are exempt. This is the law. Read guidance on face coverings.

You would be allowed to go out recreational / professional stalking as part of a management plan.
But i'm not sure that would cover taking out paying guests ?

"Shooting-related essential work is permitted in Tier 4 areas and it is a reasonable excuse to travel to carry out that essential work. This includes essential bird and mammal pest control to protect crops or livestock such as the shooting and trapping of pest bird species under general licence; the management of rodents and rabbits; deer management as part of a plan agreed with and requested by the landowner; and game management or gamekeeping activities such as looking after game birds, pest/predator control and habitat management"
