Yup, It's official, P45 next Friday, Redundant as of last Monday end of trading, Just put workshop & yard keys in the post,So, might be having to liqiudate some equipment from the gunroom if nothing crops up, Thermals / Bino's etc.

Sorry to hear that mate but chin up - stay safe and when we're through this they'll come crawling back (for me too hopefully and especially the ones who sent out letters asking me to agree not to seek any loss of earnings claims from them during all of this....)

Finnbear ask your employer to furlough you, they can set you back on and the government will pay 80% of your earnings until its allover, companies are being encouraged to do this so there's no reason why they wouldn't

So what's it like to being told you are non-essential?

If the industries are non-essential in a modern society then they wouldn't be profitable or survive.

I'm pretty sure when the whole world becomes bankrupt, we might look back and say, for several trillion dollars over the next six months - 6 years maybe we could have bought more ventilators or hospital beds?

The reality of death maybe is a new concept for some people living in the Western World.

Flatten the curve, Flatten the curve - but over what time scale? Full lockdown for a decade? When does someone's access to a ventilator more important than somebody elses access to water, food, power etc.

I would have classed the beautician, hairdressing, make up and perfume industries as "non-essential" but they seem able to survive and are (were) vastly profitable - unfortunately I am well past the age when they could do anything for me!

I have a good friend / neighbour up in Herefordshire who overlooks most of our land and let’s me know if anything’s amiss - she is now self isolating and isn’t going out / casting her eye over the buildings etc. Would it be classed as non-essential to go and check everything’s ok / locked up and secure?
