Stalking Solo vs. With a Friend – Which Do You Prefer and Why?

i know but as you say telling the truth isn't as funny !

and in my defence the welsh are not our biggest fans........... (esp at rugby...)
Given we own Creeds we are testament to the humor needed to keep people smiling :)

Given the track record in N Wales of second homes catching fire ... I doubt housing migrants would be well received.

Split the difference. Meet up or share transport, pick your spot and away solo.
Agreed rendezvous later, you have help if you need it and a shared experience and a tale or 2.
One of you may even be able to have a pint and a lift home.

Both, large bucks and reds definitely with a friend!

If I need venison then I prefer on my own for obvious reasons of stealth.

Lots of time I’m on my own, but in all honesty, I’ve a stalking buddy that I prefer to be out with.
We make a good team and the banter is good. We are generally out for most of a day so yeh, company is a bonus

Foxing, on my own , all night preferably. Was the same with my lurchers.

I like both. I definitely get more deer on my own and love the emersion and focus that I achieve. I also tend to go stalking as a last minute thing when everything lines up, a buddy tends to add another thing that has to be organised.

I love to take my 12-year-old out when he feels motivated (I can get him off his screens) and he does love the rut when he can call but he has ADHD and there's only so many times I can remind him to concentrate and stop humming!!!

With night shooting of boar we split area and work on our own. Some danger with other people moving around a certain section. But always a need to be able to call for help now that big boars are big ... like last night when a male boar weighting 140 kg went down.
Communication with text messages all the time.

Generally I prefer to stalk solo apart from the young dog I’m training up. However if any members of our syndicate want to tag along then that’s fine. For foxing a few of us going out covering different parts of the ground tends to be more productive. To keep track of where we all are we used live location tracking on WhatsApp, it’s a game changer.

Both, depends on the type of stalking. On my own if I’m out and about in the wood after roe, with friend if I’m laid up waiting for fallow to appear. (Plus much easier to extract with company!)

Much prefer going myself, it’s my time. Whether it’s stalking, foxing, rabbiting or having a go at pigeons.
