The KISS principle has been almost forgotten about today . That's products and also sales - WTF do folks add so many none essential hoops to into a purchase? Torches / headlights ? well they have a simple requirement on /off and increase the power as and when you need it .

Just bought one of these, does exactly what I need, fits in my pocket, flood to spot by turning the head, simple on/off, a separate collar selects the mode, L-M-H-Strobe, so you don’t have to cycle through pointless modes when you just want a light, magnetic base, rechargeable, and most importantly of all, really really bright. Oh, and it’s waterproof.

Why not just upgrade a Maglite with an LED bulb? Easy, cheap and simple.

You can pick up a secondhand 2 D cell version cheaply on eBay and upgrade it yourself, or there’s currently a silver 2D version already upgraded to LED for £25 plus postage.

I bought a drop in led for my old Maglite to replace the original bulb.
Really brought it up to date and focuses good.

I purchased three little head torches from eBay for £3.49 each, USB rechargeable, two different white LEDs, I glued a little red perspex filter on the brightest LED on one torch, and so far they have been absolutely brilliant, small & light but bright enough to see what I'm up to like reloading at night...

So I’ve gone for a Nebo Davinci 2000 based on the comments in this thread - pleased with it! On/off and separate collar which you can turn for mode. Bit heavy but feels robust!
