Static caravan

Kjf, me old mucker, 100s of miles of coastal walks with amazing beaches, endless beautiful countryside, stunning scenery, 100s of square miles of open Moorland, a remote, hidden away exclusive Bushcamp site, the grandkids build their dens, some of the finest fishing in the U.K……….On and on and on. I love where I live! 😉😉👍
That's what it's all about mate , you gotta be in it to use it , your lucky to live in an outstanding area , unfortunately us city dwellers have to travel further a feild to enjoy our lovely island and get some peice n quiet

Read the terms & conditions then read them again,
Mother in law got ripped big time a few years ago.
Bought a small static for £22000, 5yrs later wanted to sell, cause Father in law passed, ended up with less than £2000.
The ground rent went up, you had to buy the gas bottles from the site owners, if you wanted to move your static to another site they would charge £1800 to disconnect the electric/water/sewage then tow it to the gate 50yds away.
To much pressure for the old doll so she let it go, week later it was up for sale on the same pitch for £12000.
It might suit some people, probably different terms & conditions apply, but defo read them properly.

Agree mate, and it’s only expensive if you don’t use it, which obviously you do. 👍

A dear friend of mine forked out £40K plus for a Campervan, was it worth it? Bet your arse it was, they are out in it all the time, so it’s worth it.

My parents bought one a few years ago (I'm currently in it as I type). Their attitude was the capital cost was a write off (for reason above), they bought it new so it had 25 years on it with a possibility to extend by 5. The site fees are about 3.5k. It has a swimming pool and free fishing.
They get to use it most weeks.
The site prohibit renting them out and only family and close friends can use it so it is a very quiet and relaxed place.

My advice would be assume no return in the future and ensure it is close enough to get value from it.

Same thing happened with my mum when my father died, site in Arbroath owned by a big caravan/motor home dealer down the road, robbing bast/people
Edit to say same as post #22

This another option ,

It's called an annual pitch , but for tourers ,

Not cheap as chips neither if you want a good site with the sea / beach in spitting distance ,

My family do this on the other side of the island

3.2 k for a touring annual pitch !!!!!!!!! But it does have a pool and on site shop etc

Yep - the site we use a lot at mersea Isalnd is about 3k a year, touring pitches are £60 for a weekend, sea in spitting distance, heated outdoor pool, fantastic shop, bars, restaurants, golf, fishing lakes x3, kids play area with trampolines, family run site 45 minutes from home, we are very lucky. Having said about the cost of an annual pitch - the bigger commercial holiday sites in the south east are asking £900 to £1300 per week for a static van....
Like I say - we are lucky to have the campervan and a decent site so close.

The only advantage I have known with a static caravan, is you don't need a TV licence. You are at the mercy of the site owner, who basically can do what he wants.
