Steyr Scout .223 Re-barrel?

Has anyone or know someone who’s had a Steyr Scout .223 re-barrelled?
Was informed by Sportsman Gun Centre that it needs to go back to Steyr at a cost of £1750!!! 😩
At that money may as well scrap it and buy a new one!
Cheers Dougie

The Scout requires a special box-spanner-style wrench to access the barrel nut. Changing the barrel is therefore a specialised job rather than a complex one. If a UK riflesmith has re-barrelled a Scout before, he'll have what he needs to do another.

Hut 60 at Bisley has done a couple of these before. Nowhere near £1750 and you get a good stainless steel barrel.

There’s a bit more work to a Scout barrel than a normal bolt action plus profiling it to the skinny profile Steyr used.
