Sticky Browning Dura-Touch finish

I've just got round to cleaning the sticky Dura-Touch finish off the synthetic stock on my X-Bolt rifle.
Very quick and easy to do, simply put some Isopropyl alcohol (£7/litre from Amazon but only used a fraction) on a rough cloth and rub off. Leaves stock looking like new.
In the USA, I believe Browning was sued and had to take back all the affected rifles and make good.

Did my sako a7 stock. Came up great and rifle back in use. Even managed a decent camo pattern with some spray paints off amazon

Currently on with this at the moment - waiting for the isopropl alcohol to arrive but started with a bivarb paste as someone else had tried and its not working bad so far on one side.

The most stupid material for often handled items stocks & binos/ rangefinders as it will 100% go sticky. Use it as intended as a pad in the bottom of a cupholder or a tray on an instrument panel then it works, I spent year working on design with the clump.

About to start on the same quest...

Cleaning sounds relatively easy, but looking for tips and products please to get a decent looking dark DIY camo respray.

I found the best method yesterday, was to apply the bicarb paste over a decent size area WITHOUT scraping any of the existing gunk off first, leave it, go off and do something else for as long as you want, come back when you've remembered you were doing the stock in the first place, and then with a wooden ice lolly stick and a pot of water, dampen the stick and then using the flat part, rub the paste in (rather than trying to scrape it off) and it creates a manky looking mix but lifts the gunk off almost instantly. On mine I had a few places wanted a little bit of a second go, and the chequering might take a couple of goes, but a nail brush or old tooth brush was good for the nooks and crannies and then rinsed it all off.

Still waiting on the bottle of alcohol but I found a couple of alcohol wipes in a drawer and they worked well as a bit of a final go over.

Paint wise, plastic is a bit of a pig to get a long lasting finish but as said above, a good key (especially in any grooves etc) and a really good clean with solvent before hand will go a long way to helping. I'm probably just going to leave mine bare plastic for simplicity.

Thanks for the tip! Have ordered to give it a go this weekend :)
