Just een in the paper the rspca have admitted to releasing fox cubs which i thought was illegal!
Then same paper (sun) police caught 12 pokeys hare coursing on boxing day and they were fined £200 each for, wait for it.........
Breaching covid regs!!!!!
Someone once said the law is an ass but what happenend to one rule for all.

They obviously broke covid rules, so no need for extra hassle paperwork. and as regards the artificial police officers purporting to be animal lovers well .....

Releasing foxes isn’t illegal is it? Or not that I’ve ever heard.

I was under the impression that any foxes that were captured alive and then had to be released needed to be released within a certain distance of where they were captured, but I could be wrong.
Maybe someone would like to either correct me or clarify the laws regarding releasing foxes please before just saying that it is illegal?

My understanding is that the landowner's consent is required to allow foxes to be released, but I'm not sure where I picked that up from.

Yeah possibly, that would be a welfare issue though rather than it actually being illegal to release them.

It is certainly unwise to release 5 adjacent to a chicken farm as happened last year. As for the covid charge, whats normal about a number of people running dogs to catch hares ? Certainly trespass but I am sure plod would rather have removed the guns from a legal shooter than tohave tried to convince a court the pikeys were actually about their normal but illegal sport.
So much for 'equality'.

I think I have found the answer by typing in "Can you release foxes in UK" on Google - Here's what came up:

Is it illegal to release a fox?

Thus the removal of a fox from its home range and dumping it elsewhere (known as 'hard-release) is almost certainly an offence of cruelty under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and is condemned by the government's Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

(Please note that I do not know if this information is up to date! If it it still correct then the RSPCA should take note of this as it is covered by The Animal Welfare Act of 2006)

Key word, almost certainly.
