Strasser Rifles from Austria

Stick with Blaser or Mauser !!

The design fascinates me. Apparently it is designed by the same people that designed the blaser. If it looked a little more attractive it would be a contender. The barrel housing looks like something from the old Anschutz semi auto.

Pretty sure it's been out over here for a couple of years even though I've not seen one in the flesh yet. It faces stiff competition against the Blaser R93/8 and the Mauser M03. To me it's in the same class as the Merkel Helix and KR1, the Krieghoff Semprio and the innogun hybrid which never seemed to materialise. Although it pains me to say it I think that the Blaser R93 was the first significant improvement over the traditional turnbolt for a lot of years (ie straight pull, modular, easy to transport and scope mounts that hold zero) As Tackleberry says alot of these modern improved firearms are hard on the eye, or is it just that we are not used to them?

The innogun to me is the odd one out. The quality is not up with the rest of the rifles mentioned here and I've held all of them.

The Strasser is up there in quality.
