Subsonic Lee Enfield

it was a 45acp rifle , they picked the calibre i think as that was readily available and already subsonic

the blackout etc were developed to be subsonic specifically

The De lisle is a fascinating case study, a trail version made in .22rf to prove concept. An early u understanding of slowing down and allowing gasses to expand, ported barrels….
Testing including shooting ducks on the Thames from the roof of the mod whilst the world passed by.
Deployed to snipe at close range in the jungle.
Although very few were made comparatively the concept is fantastic and they are a great fun rifle to shoot.

Never seen a DeLisle up close but there's a few floating around on the various shooting forums. Would love one as a gallery rifle!

Never shot a De Lisle but years ago I did stand next to and watch someone shooting a Welrod. Quieter than a quiet thing it was too.

A friend of mine has one (De Lisle) that he brings to the range occasionally. It's a fantastic piece of kit.
