Hi all , Swandri is the name of a range of out door garments originaly designed and made in New Zealand ..
Hunters and out doors workers wore swandri bushshirts or jackets almost exclusively because they kept you dry and warm ..
The dry bit , as bought they were treated and could withstand a lot of rain but eventualy did need to be re treatred ( just hang it up and give it a spray) with your choice of water proof stuff.. Howand getever many hunters now go for the new poly fleece ,it's lighter dries quicker and burns easier and gets smelly .. The swandri jackets are smart dressy the bush shirts are for wear on the hill , you would not regret buying either one .. Rob

Long in length (depending on the model), which siuts those that like to hunt in shorts (a lot in NZ) warm, but heavy. Absorb water and dry out slow, but are still warm when wet.

Reading there have been production problems. Shirts now not made in NZ and of poorer quality. Is this concern real or have they sorted it out.

The wife got me a guide shirt from bison bush craft for christmas this year, great bit of kit, same kind of colour as the swani but better collar, it's like a granddad style, british made from really soft wool, can be worn next to the skin, wouldn't dare do that with the new swani's!! I wore mine yesterday on a driven pheasant/partridge day, smart enough when worn under estate tweed waistcoat. The new swandri's arn't up to the stuuf from a few years ago.

Bison Bushcraft - Boots, Clothing Outerwear

+1 for the Bisonbushcraft Guide Shirt. I got one for Christmas a year ago and wear it pretty much all the time. Have been wearing it with just a tee shirt underneath as it has been so warm and do not find it too ichy (and generally, I do not like ichy clothes). I often wear it with a Country Covers Rain Shield over if it is raining, perfect - warm and dry. The Guide Shirt is slightly, pricey but it is one of those items that you appreciate after having forked out the money. I, too, got the dark green which I like, but the checked patterns may be a better camouflage.

Bisonbushcraft also do a Bushshirt which is a tweed jacket with a hood which looks pretty good, but is even more pricey. And they have some attractive leather boots.

I also have a pair of their moleskin trousers with kneepads which I really like.

greeting all,

i have my swanni for years the new and old ones the mosgiel with frontzipper is handy but miss some big front pockets on them , also if you wash it look for a wool wash with lanoline in it and takes care of have a oil to waterproof ( not in heavy rain ) but in a little rain it will keep you dry and warm .

enjoy it

I have one of the original NZ-made hooded bush shirts (in DPM; no longer available??) which I've been hammering for the last ten seasons, and has yet to let me down. Outstanding piece of kit.
