Hi All,
Has anybody use the swarovski Habicht scopes? specifically the pv 2.5-10x56.
if so what were your overall impressions
regards
leigh

I had a 3-12x50 Habicht which I used when I first started stalking. It's decent and holds zero but doesn't compete too well at twilight with better quality scopes. You may find that there's no Swarovski warranty on Habicht these days too?
I should add that my twilight thoughts are based on experience. I took out a bloke who had a 3-10x40 Zeiss Victory on his rifle. On comparing the two at last light I was amazed at the difference. He had 15-20mins shooting after I had packed up. You get what you pay for!

I have Swaro Habichts fixed and vari and S&Bs fixed.

Great scopes. Nothing really in it on light transmission in my view.

Very good service on Swaro, 30 years on the older stuff like this. 10 years on the newer stuff and two years on the electronics although I understand they can be pretty lenient on time limits.

I would go for Swaro just on the basis of warranty.

Had a Habicht Nova 3-9x36mm which came on a rifle in a trade. Let a friend talk me out of it for cash. Still kicking myself.

Mid nineties 4-12x50 Habicht, lovely scope, great right up to and after last light. About to be replaced with a Z5 3.5-18x for the extra mag, but there may well be a trade off I'll regret at last light.

I dought it Malxwal. The Z5 is a far superior scope.

I have recently got a 4-12x50 Habicht bought second hand very pleased with it and think it has the edge over my previous favorite, a Lightstream

Got an old 2.2-9x42 Habicht Nova on my 243 that works sweet as a nut. Happy with it and don't need anything additional for my type of shooting.

I have two Habicht scopes 8x56 and 8x50 great scope in low light conditions and both are still under warranty

Guys, if you're happy with them don't let me put you off. My Habicht was plenty good enough when I took up this sport. Now that it is a job I know I need to shoot stuff much later than before. A high percentage of the deer that I shoot now are shot within the last few minutes of legal shot. My old scope couldn't have got close to that. It doesn't make the Habicht a bad scope though. It was certainly very reliable and never ever lost zero. It provides very good value for money too.
Good luck and happy stalking.

Only down side is find with the habicht is it's rather heavy. No problem for the first stalkers but I'm long fit to drop. No problem on last light. I have had mine a few years now and don't think I'll be changing any time soon

I thought that the Swarovski Habich 8x56 was about the lightest 30mm tubed 8x56 money could buy - certainly a lot lighter than the S&B version. Variable scopes are always going to be heavier than the equivalent fixed mag versions and every additional feature (illumination BDC etc) is going to add more weight. I am also no longer a spring chicken so adding weight to an already relatively heavy rifle (S&L Victory) does not help.

You may well be right, mine is the PV mk1, and I have a feeling it has a steel tube. It is rather heavy, but also bomb proof.

I have a 2.5-10 and its way better than all my other (newer) scopes except my Z4i and more than adequate for long range hares ta last light with my .17HMR. I like the illuminated dot.
