Swazi or Stoney Creek Jacket?

Which kuiu jacket you using?
I have a Kuiu Axis Hybrid which is pretty much all the jacket you need for most fair weather stalks that might turn a bit wet and drizzly but if it was extremely cold and raining sideways it’s not the jacket for that.

However, the design, fit and quality of workmanship has convinced me that if I need to purchase a jacket with a bit more insulation and waterproofing it will probably be a Kuiu one.

Yes the Kuiu stuff is expensive but it looks like it’s going to be a jacket which will go the distance.

The Stoney Creek Stow it is a short term jacket
Clue is in the name
It’s a pack away kagool type for emergency downpour

The Tundra and Stillwater are more like what you are after.
I have been abusing the Tundra jacket and trousers for about 18m now.
True material is much harder wearing than the flock type. It does appear noisy when in shop at first but quickly softens up and I have no issues stalking in windless conditions.

The tundra only comes in one colour.
The Stillwater has similar waterproofing rating but the material is softer (and as a result less abrasion resistant)

The features I like about them that sold me on the brand are:
Hood - fits like a hat when scrunched up, not a big rain catching funnel.

Collar - snug enough to stop rain taunting off face

Zips - double flap with gutter, pocket zips are waterproof and vertical.

Long tail - sit on it! Dry arse!

Price-They are not £500!!

As said stow it jacket is not in same league as Swazi wapiti or whatever swazi Model was.

ones is a full on winter / bad weather all day jacket ...... the stow it is for a back pack , part of layers system and to pull out when you need it ......apples n oranges really.

look up some of Caorachs previous threads on milsurp, goretex and rain cover system......cheap! And it works.....downside is wearing military camo if that bothers you .

Been field trailing a Swazi coat for a number of years, since it was offered to me by Swazi. I will admit they are great jackets, and it has been put through a lot of work. From crawling after Reds in the highlands to Sika as well, followed by Fallow, Roe, Muntjac and CWD in the south.
It started to let the water in on the back and shoulders about 2 years back and the main zip gave out on the front. I asked Swazi to repair it but the response was send it back but you will need to pay for the work and postage. I didnt have the time or inclination. Not that I minded paying the postage, but the main zip packing up was a bit of let down.
But in all honesty the coat had been through the mill.

I have now bought a full set of Swedeteam, and I am quite impressed with it, warmer than the Swazi coat and after two full seasons holding up quite well I must say.

I'm using swedteam too.... seems good stuff.. .... shooterking gets good reviews from lads who wear it for its intended purpose....
I've rivers west too.. keeps you dry jut takes forever to dry out and with layers underneath you will sweat...

Have a look at the taiga rampart jacket.... they do a green version and by allacoounts its good gear, some of the sf lads use it ... not tried one myself but will do when my current jackets wear out or when I can sneak into my ppe budget lol...
Love your dog (patterdale? I have a red patterdale). Is the Swed stuff very quiet and also waterproof? Was looking at this jacket which says 'high protection' against rain which suggests rain resistant not proof) Crest Light Classic M Jacket

Come across a new kuiu Yukon jacket for sale in UK so purchased it. 1st impressions seem really good, like the fit. The material is softer/quieter than others ive used also.
