I can’t comment on those two particular knives, but I’ll personally take a quality fixed blade over a G4.
In terms of edge retention, 12C27 is OK as far as budget steels go, but if you’re used to the superior powdered-metallurgy steels, then you may find it lacking.

I must admit to carrying a whole load of crap about including many knives.

My Eka curved blade is scary sharp and needs v little to keep it that way.

I also find the main blade, I just can’t get on with.
