Just came across this.... Sorry Andy.
So I can claim this rifle as my own. It was a present for my 40th. After looking on here for a good while
@Ronin looked to be a safe bet.
I knew what I didn't want in a rifle. I had a tikka CTR in 6.5CM which I am fine to carry. But it's a pain when dragging. As the mod and barrel want to head to the floor. I also wanted a boar size caliber. This in mind. It needed to be shootable and light. I wanted a 200yd shot but able to go 400 if it went wrong kind of thing. I went 308 as it was easily available in most places. Unless you wanted reloading dies. But that's another story.
Andy did a great job of steering me in the right direction. Like a kid in a sweet shop I didn't know what I wanted but could pick anything. I was undecided and had no idea what to choose. Also being a 308 it will shoot a lot of rounds before worn out. So I wanted it future proof. So it needed to shoot copper. Andy was able to do this. Advised me being a t3x action I bought the mags and bolt stop for a long action. But use medium setup for the Sierra 150gr gamekings it's using now.
A visit to Andy to drop the donor rifle off saw me change my mind again. Stock colour from a PSE he had there. This was even after I placed the order.
Rifle was built really quickly. DHL lost the stock for a good while. So I didn't have much time to load develop. Also my dies I wanted weren't in stock anywhere.
I loaded up 5 of 4 different powder charges. Seated at vihts cartridge length.
I am not a target shooter nor is this rifle meant to be one. But I was pleased with the result. Better than expected. As I hadnt even had to try hard.
150gr @ 2816fps with a spread of 23fps.
I think I could tighten them groups up with a fine retical scope. My Zeiss HT is quite heavy for paper. But I'm happy so I won't bother.
On the hill. It's steep in places. But it's boggy and water courses. Then there is some real thick woodland below it. It has clear spots that the deer like. The rifle has been amazing so far.
Andy has got me to exactly what I wanted. But never said you NEED this. Just gave me pros and cons for both ways. A simple rebarrel ended up in a full job. Only problem is now I will want another rifle from him at some point.
I would recommend anyone to use his work. His knowledge is always tailored to the level of the customer. He has also answered many questions that I had.
I would change nothing on this rifle after carrying it for 6hrs a day for a week. I don't even put it down when standing at the pick up point after being out.
Bipod I will change..... But Andy (Ronin) didn't recommend that
