Target achieved.

Last Spring I decided to have a go at the squirrel population in a block of woodland that I look after. I've shot this area for years and don't recall any organised squirrel control being done. I found a quiet, dense, mature area in the wood where undergrowth and brambles were not too grown up and where there were drays and squirrels evident. I set up a feed site and put up a highseat. I put up a trail cam and that told me that the squirrels (and deer) soon found the feed. My target was 100 squirrels from this seat. I sat in the seat every week or so and by late summer I had shot 70 odd. Then there was a dramatic drop in activity which coincided with the hazel harvest. During that time I decided to cut some windows from the seat into the woodland to increase my chances of deer control. There are muntjac and fallow in this area. Recently squirrel visits have increased again and today I shot number 100. In fact my total is now 102. I've also shot 3 muntjac and a fox. The seat will certainly remain for the foreseeable future.100th squirrel.webp

Nice one sir .Amazing how many a wood will hold .I’ve just moved my feeder for the 4th time back to original site having shot 179 so far .

Good job.

I was in a seat on the mild New Years Eve just gone and had at least 30 all around me - counted 7 in the picture at one time in my thermal!

Looking to hopefully do the same as you at some point :thumb:
