Telos disappointment.

Videos merged together of the Hik Vs the Telos.
In the video you can see that the ultra setting on the telos is the clearest setting, however when looking through the unit i wouldn’t say this was the case and the N setting is better, this is because you have more noise around the heat signature in the Ultra mode, which is more visible through the eye piece.

Fox-120 yards
Horses- 55 yards
Deer- 350 yards
House- 800 yards.
Humidity 89% (measured on my kestrel).

Wow chalk and cheese the hik is around 45% better than the pulsar, this doesn't surprise me as I have the falcon FQ50 and it's great in all conditions.

In all fairness, the Helion Pro is on identify and the Telos is on normal, totally opposite operating modes. Helion should have been on Rocks and Telos on Normal. The Helion would pull out a lot more detail on Rocks mode.
Well, going to find out soon - I committed to a Telos LRF in July and hopefully this coming weekend I’ll be able to do my own comparison with my Helion 2 XP50 Pro :scared::popcorn:
The Helion Pro is an awesome monocular, I think most will find the Telos very similar and the difference, not discernible to most peoples eyes...

The telos interests me because you in theory so they say never need to buy another unit as they can update the Telos to the newest software? I think I’m correct in thinking that? I’m bloody fed up of buying new thermals every couple of years because we get left behind

Sensor and function can be upgraded yes... for example you could upgrade to the XL sensor at some point, or add LRF to standard model.

No fussed about the lrf as it would be for spotting while stalking and I always like a good look thru my zeiss first and they have a rangefinder in them anyway 😂👍plus the lrf looks like it’s a rite pocket hanker and a pain in the hoop to get in and out of my coat pocket

All this talk of the Telos , I wanted the LRF version but now I think im aiming towards
the HIK Gryphon, can someone please make my mind up for me please:banghead:
Get both and then give me the one you don't like ha ha ha. My XQ38f is ancient and getting a bit battered but still works. I keep going with it because it is still fine but the lure of an RF on a thermal at night is very tempting.

I'm thinking exactly the same, I have the HIK thunder scope and won't be replacing it anytime soon as it's a great bit of kit, I have been thinking about changing my current spotter Axion XQ38lrf for the Telos but I'm also leaning towards the Gryphon, If its as good as the scopes it'll be good though I haven't looked through a Gryphon yet

I think Pulsar are a victim of their own marketing here
They have trailed the Telos for so long, made a huge deal out of it's 18mK sensor which, although better than the 25mK of the Helion isn't earth shattering and to be honest will never be noticed by most users.
Look at the Thomas Jacks video - yes the Telos image is better, but only marginally and there's nothing within shooting range that would not be seen and identified equally well with either monocular
The situation has not been helped by regular promises on delivery dates which have not been met
In other words, they appear to have overpromised and underdelivered
IMHO they should be pushing the upgradeability much more, and if the prices to upgrade the lens or sensor or add an LRF are reasonable, then that will be good for users
For Pulsar, the biggest plus with upgradeability is that it reduces the chances of users deserting to another brand when new products come along.
Losing existing users and not attracting new users must make the high heid yins at Pulsar lose sleep at night because existing thermal users and potential new users have never had so much choice.
The other day, I did a wee survey of the market for thermal monoculars (not riflescopes or binoculars) and came up with 12 different brands and over 100 different models currently available on the UK market

Cheers

Bruce

I have a Telos (the non-LRF version as it’s more streamlined). I think it is great but I have come from an old XQ38F so not had the experience of using the Helion 2 pro. Tbh the side by side video against the Falcon, agree with the comments that the Hikmicro looks better especially zoomed in.
