Thermals are essentially your eye looking at a screen, which does not have anywhere the amount of damaging effect as flourecent lights and of course, direct sunlight.

Cataracts are primarily induced by UV Radiation.

Hi All,

Just to chime in. Very busy at the moment but Ben helpfully tagged me in.

The Dark Engine BLADE is supplied as standard for wide FOV, ideal for dedicated scopes with lower magnification 3.5x.

However the beam can be tightened to make it much more suitable for add ons, with a simple user modification. We can also do this for you at time of manufacture. Just mention you want it for an add on in the comments section of the order.

To tighten the beam:

Remove the battery!

Remove the grub screw holding the lens with a .9mm allen key. Don't lose it. It's very small.

Unscrew the objective lens with the torch vertically, lens up.

Under the lens is a loose o-ring. Remove this as it's to be used as a spacer later.

Remove the pill by unscrewing with a pair of tweezers or needle nose pliers.

Fit the o-ring onto the back of the pill, over the thread and up against the shoulder. This will space it out from the body.

Refit the pill until you feel it tighten onto the o-ring and then tighten 1/4 turn more.

Refit the lens and grub screw.

That will completely transform the apparent power when using an add on and higher magnification.

Cheers

How do you think it stacks up against the SRX for brightness?

Hi Ian,

The Dark Engine BLADE output is a the very maximum allowed for sale to consumers so I would imagine differences in output would be minimal assuming other manufacturers are working to the maximum and not a lower level of output.

I can see a very very long way with an MTC scope and NV007V with the BLADE (setup for add on use as described earlier):

You can always return it for a full refund if you're not happy.

Cheers

Hi, this is my first post, so please be patient.

I have a Bruno .22rf fitted with a Nikko Sterling 4x16x50 AO MR ID, I have just bought the Pard NV700SP-LRF to use on it.. I have had difficulty setting it up! I had the base mag set to 10, the parallax all wrong etc etc, hopefully now sorted. Then to cap it all, I didn't really appreciate it wouldn't work in the rain or drizzle "ah thats great because I live in Wales" so it won't be used a lot ..

I have managed to get it somewhere near what I think it should be. I have zeroed the rifle to only 60 yrds as this range suits me.. one thing I have noticed, the battery went flat quite quickly when using the IR, I'm in the process of buying a couple of spare batteries and a charger, I have looked at the 18650 Molicell 35A as a replacement, what' make do you guys use?
I also have a space for a 223 on my ticket, so I will be looking to set the Pard up on that eventually, and have read that I will probably need an extra IR.. Reading through some posts, I have noticed that the Soaris SRX is very popular, what mount do I need for this?
All help, advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hey fellow taff!

The battery that comes with pard isn't great. Get couple of 18650 flat tops from fogstar and keep one in pocket, really easy to swap over.

I use Solaris SRX with my pard007 on my CF and on decent conditions can see lot further than I want to shoot. If I was buying again I'd look at the blade from night vision store for the weight saving.

I use mount from ludicrous and it's brilliant. Did have one from Nightmasters which was ok until it broke. LL one is perfect for job.

If you're using 3rd party IR obviously your battery life is boosted.

Hello BenBhoy,
Thank for the information on the additional IR illuminator, I will definitely look into that and the mount.. .. What 18650 battery charger do you use?

Using both of the Pards (007 on .22, .17hmr and 6.5x55SE
Hi Foxyboy,
I was looking at using a Pard 007 on my 6.5x55 for shooting some fallow that persistently cross my permission in legal shooting time, but before I can see them sufficiently to shoot through my scope (i.e. a 10-15 minute window)! I don't want a day/night scope like the Alpex or 008, hence considering a rear add-on. I have been concerned about eye relief using a Pard on a c/f so am very interested to know how you manage this successfully with your 6.5x55?
Thanks

Absolutely no probs with the Pard 007 and the 6.5 either shooting 120 or 130 gns bullets - both of which will see off even red stags with style.
You will find that you do not even necessarily need your eye against the bellows - but even if it is the recoil is absolutely fine.
Haven’t tried it on the .308 but have no qualms about doing it.

I set my Pard NV700SP-LRF up yesterday on a .22rf, and tried it out in the a field behind our house, after a couple of tweaks, I was able to see quite well. I turned the external IR adjustment knob, yet I couldn't really see any difference! what does the adjustment suppose to do?

Ps. what I did spot were a few very bright spots through the scope which didn't move when squeaked, so I popped the head torch on, and to my surprise it was Woodcock😀

External adjustment knob....you can only pull the IR illuminator out to concentrate or spread the beam.
The turntable knob is for diopter adjustment.
You can increase or decrease IR strength via the left button.
