The Fox’s Year

No close season on foxes but when a milky vixen is shot got to do the right thing by the cubs and find the den or get someone that can sort it

An old keeper, a very good friend of mine in his late eighties told me of a tiny fox cub he found.
He took it home and his then young daughter played with. It would hide behind the aga and pinch food left out for it.
He told me how he expected it to not survive on the food they were giving to it at such a young age but it did and it grew to an adult. They had to let it go in the end as they could never totally tame it.
He also told me and I've witnessed it myself that cubs will survive on fly, grubs and good ol' fresh poop!
They are wild animals, conditioned to survive and survive they do. They do not rely on sentimentality, if they did, they would be no more!

An old Baikal John. Near indestructible.
Had to bend a barrel on one once in the field. Thing was shooting a bit high.
