Evolution means that the cat up north after having decimated the small species needed to evolve in size to enable them to catch larger prey..IE wallabies etc.
More and more are being caught of a larger size.

Inside the guts of captured cats they have found sugar gliders, geckos, birds and insects - and that's just one day's meals. Now a special "catting" dog will be brought in to help sort the super cats out. Warddeken ranger group has sought Federal Government funding based on pictures of the large cats. Group chairman Dean Yirbarbuk told NT News the cats grew to about 20kg.
