THE PRETEND KEEPER

Fanny. Do you not own a coat??
Been there and done that in the past , now older and wiser.

Anyway what would you know , the boy who never gets out shooting by his own admission 🤣

I'm not that desperate to shoot a pheasant, I'm out 52 weeks of the year.

Like you I'd rather sit indoors reading the Guardian with my refugee friends 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I've been outside all day M̶a̶r̶k̶, I mean Nick. It's not nice but those of us that live AND work in the countryside don't mind it. You enjoy your weekly visit sweetheart.

You've missed the point yet again , we were talking about shooting not living , something you only pretend to do.

Watch you dont fall off your quad 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sadly it's you thats missing the point, but you crack on just focus on your armed tourist trips to the countryside.

I know how lucky I am to live & work here, be a part of actually managing & long term shaping the countryside. A rifle is only a small part of countryside management.

Why are you even on a site that is primarily devoted to deer stalking when you've never shot a deer 🤣

Narcissist....look at me tending my flock and helping out no hopers 🥳

Well, that was mental, but a lot of fun. Started off just really wet so we got a couple of drives in without any problems other then the birds were sitting really tight, stopped for elevenses, home made tomato soup, pheasant and pork sausage rolls and lemon drizzle cake, back out to do around forestry buildings and the wind got up, we pushed one block out that turned into a woodcock drive, by this time trees were starting to snap so we called it a day, we managed 5 drives called it a day. I had Teddy with me today, my mates springer, my god, it’s off its head, I’ve a new found respect for people who work springers, he never stopped 👍 Christmas shoot next and hopefully we’ll have some better weather, preferably some weather that lets me take a few pictures instead of the under water one I managed today IMG_1318.webp

What was the bag ?

We were out too
At 7 am it was fairly nice - by 9 it was bloody well different !
Had to alter a few of the drives - and indeed the order - had a lot less beaters than normal . Maybe they had the right idea stopping at home ? No way always rather be out !
Anyway we found the birds - we have really really held them this year - we put hundreds and hundreds up - but the massive gusts of wind were in their favour and not ours as one minute it blew them over the guns the next far far away to safety
We had a great laugh though and one of our picking up team very kinfly put on roast pork cobs with stuffing and apple sauce at dinner ! Nicest cob i think i have ever had !
We pulled stumps before the last drive just as the real heavy rain came and went for a pint
Half our usual bag but certainly all our usual laughs
